Little by Little for OBE in Bury

July 1, 2010

Showbiz glamour came to Bury when Albert Little OBE was made a Freeman of the Borough and his famous grandson, Ralf, came to see the distinguished former councillor receive the borough’s highest civic award.

Albert, now aged 94, was a long-serving councillor in Bury and Ramsbottom and was leader of Bury Council for 11 years. He served as Mayor of Bury in 1983/84. He was given the Freeman honour at Bury Town Hall.

And Ralf, star of film and TV shows including Two Pints of Lager… and The Royle Family, was in the front row for the occasion.

Ralf is the latest star to shine a light on Bury: last year, the council awarded Freedom of the Borough to three of Bury’s most famous sons and daughters – Oscar-winning moviemaker Danny Boyle, award-winning rock band Elbow, and Paralympian gold medallist Zoe Robinson.

One Response to Little by Little for OBE in Bury

  1. We came across this nifty little news and lifestyle website the other day and we thought we should let our readers know all about it and give it a quick review.

Focused on the North West http://www.thenatter.co.uk was set up by two former MEN Journalists, Eric Jackson and Diane Cooke. Basically if it is going on in Manchester and the North West they aim to have it on the site, from Ralf Little attending a function in Bury to see his Grandfather becoming a Freeman of the town to tips on fashion and more.

Thankfully this is not just another one of those sites that says it’s great in Manchester, the editorial style is very good and they have plans to spread the concept to cover other major cities. If you’ve got five minutes have a look at The Natter, its interesting, informative and best of all it’s free
