Insuring a Fleet of Taxis

Business Tips
If you run a taxi firm then one of the biggest overheads you’ll have is insurance. Any reasonably sized taxi firm will have multiple vehicles of varying values that need to be insured for road risks, liability claims and breakdowns amongst other things. For most taxi firms, fleet insurance is by far the best option. Why get fleet insurance? Fleet insurance comes with a few key advantages over insurance vehicles individually. Firstly it is much more convenient to insure all your vehicles under one policy than it is getting separate policies for each. With fleet insurance you can not only insure vehicles of differing values but also insure different vehicle types. Setting Up as a Freelance Courier

Business Tips
Working as a freelance courier can be a great way to make a living but it does come with some extra responsibilities you’ll need to be prepared for. As well as registering as self-employed, you’ll also be responsible for paying your own tax and finding your own customers. Below are some tips to help you get started. If you decide to buy a van then you’re probably better off buying used since brand new vans can be very expensive, although there’s always the option to spread the cost. When buying used be sure that you know what to look out for to avoid buying a vehicle that has problems, or will develop problems further…

Warning of Rising Car Costs

Business News
New research, published by specialist market research agency Consumer Intelligence, appears to show what motorists have feared for many years – that keeping a car on the road is becoming ever more expensive. Due to rising petrol and insurance costs, car owners are cutting back significantly on their time behind the wheel. The research shows that 34% of car owners have reduced their driving, a number which rises to 42% in London. Average insurance premiums are rising at a rate of 9.3% per year, which is in addition to soaring petrol and road tariff prices. Unfortunately, there is not much good news on the horizon to ease these growing concerns. June marks the introduction of an increased rate of insurance premium tax (IPT) and when the new Vehicle Excise Duty rules are taken into account, along with planned changes to certain insurance claims, the immediate future for many car owners will be one dictated by budget. Despite the growing cost of maintaining their vehicles, a vast majority of motorists are determined to remain active drivers.…
